After posting about the Constructibles a couple weeks ago, a friend of mine forwarded me the link to these gorgeous little numbers, the Twig Building System. Helen (who is a very thoughtful, inspiring artist – check out her Oprah project) had found these here in the Twin Cities (that’s Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN to you non-midwesterners) as a Christmas gift for her kids. She said they are incredible. As soon as I saw them I thought the same exact thing. I think my response to her was a tweet filled with a whole lotta exclamation points! These kids blocks are beyond simple stacking/building, they’re in and out and through as well. It’s a super-charged dose of creativity for kids, plus gorgeous colors and minimalist design for the adults (come-on, you know you’ll be playing with them too).

I’ve now played with them in person – and they’re gorgeous! Birdie likes them too. (though she mostly puts them in and out of their box)
